"Knocking on Heaven's door"??
Well... Hello, Everyone~
This would be second post of my blog and I'm also very glad to see y'all through this blog. Most of you guys don't care how I live or my status of life but that's okay. I was busy of taking finals from college until now. I'm having fun at my friend's house in ATL and I'm just chilling so far....
I really appreciate you all of reading my first post although I think it was kinda unorganized...However, I will put my effort on organizingin my thoughts about it and try to develop my thoughts more clear, too. I really suck at writing unless I'm not emotional enough to "create" poetic or romantic verses~ lol.
Anyway, today, I'm going to talk about a really ....really.....famous.....legendary!! popular!! and~~~one of the most electri~~~~~fy sorry, I'm exaggerating... anyway, I'm going to talk about Bob Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door." (One of my friends requests this song and I really really thank you for that...)
Most of people heard his name at least once...Bob Dylan. If you don't know about him, it's okay. There is nothing wrong with it since everybody is not perfect. Well, if I briefly introduce about him, Bob dylan was one of the best folk singer songwriter in the universe, period. He also cooperated with other musicians such as George Harrison, Eric Clapton, etc for performances.
Most of songs usually have stories like traditional folk songs. However, he intends to write songs more about subjects that are related to deeper stuffs such as society, living condition, politics, situations around the world, etc. Although most musical features of songs are similar to traditional songs', he created his own "folk" songs by talking "serious" stories.
Well, "Knocking on Heaven's door" is an example for his songs, too. When you read lyrics of this song, you already figure out that it's really depressing song. Some would say that it's not depressing song. Well... I guess... since a main character is knocking on heaven's door ...and heaven is a really good place to go if a person dies... lol
But, first of all, he's not dead yet. On the verse, it said, "feels like knockin..." Basically, he feels like knocking on the heaven, which means he feels like he's dying. Then why would he choose a word "heaven" instead of "feels like i'm dying?"
In my opinion, he still has a thing called "hope." Yea, hope. He hopes that he can survive through all these nasty things bothering him. It would be too pessimistic and hopeless if he would say "feels like I'm dying." Words related straightly to death usually come out from people's mouths when they are really depressed, hopeless, and unconscious of themselves. However, I believe that he thought that he still has a chance to improve his situations so he uses word, "heaven" although he still is frustrated with his problems...it's more optimistic to say "knocking on heaven" rather than saying "Dying on the street."
Okay... there is a "light" for this main character but a song is pretty depressing... On verses, it talked about "too dark" and "black cloud" which symbolizes his futures. Well, when you are in "too dark" room, you don't see anything, right? It would immediately depress you right away since you can't see anything and plus, you would be scared since you don't know what is going to happen to you. And mostly, black clouds bring bad weathers to us and... mostly, we don't like it and some of us would get depressed because of bad weather. Well as you know, most of things that are related to dark stuffs create gloomy atmosphere....
Well, basically, living in a society is same thing as living in a jungle and surviving from a society is very stressful, too. While a person is breathing, he or she has to face these unreasonable, pointless situations anyway because every person including him, her, and it is not perfect. And maybe, a person would think about killing themselves, too since they get so stressed and began to narrow their thoughts.
I'm pretty sure that if those who are really stressed of living listen to this song, at least they can feel sympathy with it and can even ease their minds, too. Remember that a person is not meant to be born as a loner. Others are always with you...
....What do you know? Heaven can be this society...hahahahahahahaha

About Guns n' Roses - Street of Dreams
wow... this is going to be a first song for a first post. I am kinda excited about this, yet I am also scared as hell, since I WILL try to interpret song in my own way. Some would have different ideas about a song so they can disagree with me. I am totally fine with that. I don't care if a person starts to curse. As long as it's logical enough to argue, I will try to share my ideas with people about a song....and we can have a discussion about it...
Well let's go ahead and talk about a song lol.
Recently, Guns n' roses produced an album for first time in more than 10 years...It's called as "Chinese Democracy." I kinda waited years to see this album because it took the most money among any other CDs. It's very interesting because I know that Axl Rose, a frontman of Guns n' Roses, used more than 10 years and more than 1 million dollars to produce this ALBUM...
Well, I am not going to argue whether album was worth enough to wait more than 10 years or not including other issues such as qualities, styles, etc....
I recently bought this album from Bestbuy (of course....) and began to listen about it. Well to be honest, most songs already have been either leaked or heard from Guns n' Rose's past tours...
Among songs in this album, there is a song called "Street of Dreams."
Street of Dreams... first of all, a title of this song kinda made me to believe that it would a balladish rock song (slow and dramatic song)... and I was right lol...It starts with a piano intro and one of my friend told me that it reminds me "Elton John, period." Well, Axl would agree that too since Elton John's works influenced some songs of Guns' n roses....
and then Axl's soulful voice covers a whole song along with orchesra, guitar, bass, and drums....
Some fans that love old works of Guns n' roses wouldn't appreciate his voice...Axl used to have an aggresive tone of his voice and most time, he sang songs aggresively.... But this time, he sang it so smoothly even I was kinda surprised... wow ....he can sing lol ....well, some medias appointed him as one of the top 100 vocalists that are important....I thought it was kinda exaggerated since he used to sing songs with only one tone (well... most of time) but recently he tries to sing clearly....and this song proves itself .....
The song did not have any killing riffs like "Welcome to Jungle" or crazy guitar solo like "Sweet Child O mine." Yet, Axl's soulful voice covers whole song and an orchestra made it more intense.
The most important part of song I believe is lyrics of this song...
Basically, you guys can get lyrics from the internet so lol... but yea, if he or she read it, it's kinda poetic and also complex, too... It seems to be complex because lyrics itself is talking about a part of ....life...lol.... A main character talks about a person who he love, like, or whatever...and claims that he or she has changed....
Well, in real world, almost every person does change himself, herself, or "itself" for many purposes...simply in order to "live." And that could hurt other people who are near those who have changed.... However, in reality, a person (as long as they don't die too early before they even start to enter the society...lol and this can happen to you all, too) is going to face lots of problems and because of those, some decide to change their attitude, characteristics, behaviors, whatever they have lol...In this song, a main character mourns himself or herself because still could not believe that a person he adimre...(or whatever) changes and all he or she believes now is just memories... I guess a main dude feels pity or feels sad about it....I can see a scene through lyrics: this guy is walking down on the "street" and is still "dreaming" about past......
"Street of Dreams" can approach some people with its own epic sounds and an atmosphere of songs but....I think lyrics of this song is the best part of itself.....
