Well... Hello, Everyone~
This would be second post of my blog and I'm also very glad to see y'all through this blog. Most of you guys don't care how I live or my status of life but that's okay. I was busy of taking finals from college until now. I'm having fun at my friend's house in ATL and I'm just chilling so far....
I really appreciate you all of reading my first post although I think it was kinda unorganized...However, I will put my effort on organizingin my thoughts about it and try to develop my thoughts more clear, too. I really suck at writing unless I'm not emotional enough to "create" poetic or romantic verses~ lol.
Anyway, today, I'm going to talk about a really ....really.....famous.....legendary!! popular!! and~~~one of the most electri~~~~~fy sorry, I'm exaggerating... anyway, I'm going to talk about Bob Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door." (One of my friends requests this song and I really really thank you for that...)
Most of people heard his name at least once...Bob Dylan. If you don't know about him, it's okay. There is nothing wrong with it since everybody is not perfect. Well, if I briefly introduce about him, Bob dylan was one of the best folk singer songwriter in the universe, period. He also cooperated with other musicians such as George Harrison, Eric Clapton, etc for performances.
Most of songs usually have stories like traditional folk songs. However, he intends to write songs more about subjects that are related to deeper stuffs such as society, living condition, politics, situations around the world, etc. Although most musical features of songs are similar to traditional songs', he created his own "folk" songs by talking "serious" stories.
Well, "Knocking on Heaven's door" is an example for his songs, too. When you read lyrics of this song, you already figure out that it's really depressing song. Some would say that it's not depressing song. Well... I guess... since a main character is knocking on heaven's door ...and heaven is a really good place to go if a person dies... lol
But, first of all, he's not dead yet. On the verse, it said, "feels like knockin..." Basically, he feels like knocking on the heaven, which means he feels like he's dying. Then why would he choose a word "heaven" instead of "feels like i'm dying?"
In my opinion, he still has a thing called "hope." Yea, hope. He hopes that he can survive through all these nasty things bothering him. It would be too pessimistic and hopeless if he would say "feels like I'm dying." Words related straightly to death usually come out from people's mouths when they are really depressed, hopeless, and unconscious of themselves. However, I believe that he thought that he still has a chance to improve his situations so he uses word, "heaven" although he still is frustrated with his problems...it's more optimistic to say "knocking on heaven" rather than saying "Dying on the street."
Okay... there is a "light" for this main character but a song is pretty depressing... On verses, it talked about "too dark" and "black cloud" which symbolizes his futures. Well, when you are in "too dark" room, you don't see anything, right? It would immediately depress you right away since you can't see anything and plus, you would be scared since you don't know what is going to happen to you. And mostly, black clouds bring bad weathers to us and... mostly, we don't like it and some of us would get depressed because of bad weather. Well as you know, most of things that are related to dark stuffs create gloomy atmosphere....
Well, basically, living in a society is same thing as living in a jungle and surviving from a society is very stressful, too. While a person is breathing, he or she has to face these unreasonable, pointless situations anyway because every person including him, her, and it is not perfect. And maybe, a person would think about killing themselves, too since they get so stressed and began to narrow their thoughts.
I'm pretty sure that if those who are really stressed of living listen to this song, at least they can feel sympathy with it and can even ease their minds, too. Remember that a person is not meant to be born as a loner. Others are always with you...
....What do you know? Heaven can be this society...hahahahahahahaha

lol that's a good question...well it depends on point of views from each person but however, most people including myself assumed that death and darkness associate with negativity... well of course, we have to face darkness and death anyway in order to live... but there are often situations that some people have to face them without any specific reasons and they most likely think that it's very unfair and since darkness and deaths appear at very unexpected timing, people get really upset and started to think negatively. And after those experiences, it's 50%. Either he or she learned new thing from it or a person just fail to live with it. For easing hurts of heart, that's why and this is a song that would be kinda helpful as a cure...
